Celebrating Our Donors and Volunteers

In the fall of 2015 we invited our donors, volunteers and community leaders to a celebration of what our combined efforts and resources have accomplished for the region.  Attendees had the chance to talk with students and their mentors about the projects, trips and educational experiences they've been able to pursue because of the support they received from the 21st Century Fund.

Civics in Action

At the end of every school year, the Fund hosts an event at Noble Horizons where all the documentaries produced by HVRHS Seniors with the Civic Life Project are shown at one time.  Films are introduced by the student producers, screened and then followed by "round table" discussions. The evening is a unique opportunity for the community to come together to talk about meaningful topics that effect us all; the audience of local residents, community leaders and students is a wonderful opportunity of what a respectful democracy can be.

Below is a sample of some of the topics covered by these short documentaries:

  • Being a Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, or Transgender Teen
  • Custodial Rights of Grandparents
  • Drug and Alcohol Treatment
  • Eating Disorders
  • Influence of Religion on US Policy
  • Internet Privacy /Data Harvesting
  • Militarization of Police
  • Prison Reform
  • Stigma of Mental Illness
